Naked Charity

Faslane Naval Base

The calendar that never happened.

MINISTRY of Defence chiefs have banned a saucy charity calendar featuring semi-naked workers at the Faslane Naval Base. The women had peeled off for a Calendar Girls-style shoot to raise cash for Macmillan cancer care nurses in the run-up to Christmas. Military chiefs at the base and Babcock Naval Services, who operate the naval base, agreed to pay for the calendar to be produced. However, after being asked to approve photographs, Faslane commodore Carolyn Stait and Babcock managers decided against producing the calendar, branding the images "inappropriate". The authorities were alarmed at how daring the 12 women had been with their poses and decided it was not something they wanted to be associated with.
